You can see what I’m talking about at http://www.nbc.com/Social_Networking. I don’t troll the networks websites at all, but I heard that the TV show Heroes can be seen online, I’ve never seen the show, so I thought I would check it out, and found their soon to be Social Networking page. It boasts Personalized Profiles, Buddies, Video Galleries, Photo Galleries, Blogs, Groups, Message Boards, and Widgets. Clearly these are all things that need to happen, actually all things that should have happened already. But no time to improve like the present I guess.
After poking around a little bit, I did find that they have a list of current blogs here. Now as a person that doesn’t watch TV on a TV, most of these blogs are cryptic. “Andrea’s Blog – The Biggest Loser” Who is Andrea? Is she a fan? Is she on the show? Is she the producer? “Pale Man’s Blog – Paleforce” Is Paleforce the name of a TV show? Is it a show about a platoon of killer albino rabbits? Paleforce?… goofy name. [of course I've probably shot myself in the foot and made myself look like an idiot for not looking it up, such is life]
Ok, so I clicked on the Paleforce blog to see what I could find out, and see what type of stuff is being blogged about. Here is the 3rd entry down:
February 13, 10:49 PM
Happy Valentine’s DayDear Friends of Pale,
My Valentine wish to you is that you open your heart to your inner paleness – and beg the media to stop talking about Anna Nicole Smith.
- Jim
Now that is quality reading. Clearly this show is absolute sillyness and that is what the blog must be reflecting. At least they allow comments. So it is not totally worthless.
Conclusion:
- Good on ya’ NBC for adding these features to your website.
- Maybe they will even improve the current blogging.
- One of my favorite aspects of watching Lost on ABC is the official podcast, and that is not on this list for NBC. It should be.
