jeremyvaught.com is turning the corner

by Jeremy Vaught

This blog is written by me, Jeremy Vaught.  I have spent years pondering exactly what turn corner signthis blog should accomplish, and I have finally figured it out.

What you have seen up until now

Chaos, basically.  Whatever I wanted to write about, I threw it down here.  I have written about trips I’ve taken, what I’m doing with my kids, and before this blog, I did it for years on other blogs that have since faded away.  I has gained me a small loyal audience of friends a family, and a few people I have met at conferences along the way.

What you will see going forward

I have been giving a lot of thought to the look of the blog and changed it quite a bit lately.  But mostly, I have given a lot of thought as to what the blog is going to say.  And what it is going to say is how and why your business should be using Social Media.  I’m not even going to look for the exact words to define what this space will be.  But starting December 2008 and into 2009 and beyond, it’s what Social Media can do for you and your company.

You like the personal stuff?

If that’s the case, I’ll be posting the stuff that I can’t put here anymore, over on personal. jeremyvaught.com.  This site is professional, that site is whatever I want to put there.  I always felt the pull both ways, but the professional won out on this site, and the personal won too.

I’m excited about this new direction, I’m excited to be focused and have a place to talk about what I’m doing in my consulting business.  Check the sidebar, I have links for everyone who needs to find me and hire me. :)

If you have suggestions?  Comments?  Criticisms?  I would love to hear them…

Look out Chris Brogan, I’m coming for you.

    Way to go, Jeremy!

Love your final salvo. Brogan's a good act to reach for. And you're Jeremy Vaught. That you stood outside PodCampAZ at the end of two days and gave me a tutor session on the N-95 camera and showed me how to put it up on Qik and Seesmic when you could have just run for the car? That's class.

You care. And you have knowledge. And you like sharing it with people. You're a good guy. And there's room. You be you.

Good idea on the separation between personal and professional blog content. I'm looking forward to reading more!

On that note, can you advise me what still and video camera you'd recommend NOW? My iPhone pics are pitiful at night time on Twitter. And Scoble is hot on the N-97. What do you say? Thanks. Roseann
  • Thanks for the kind words Roseann! I think I will be me :)

As far as the camera goes, I have two suggestions. The N97 is a phone, not a camera. And while it is a great device, like my N95, I still desire better cameras. So my two suggestions are a Canon Elph and a Sony Xacti. The Canon takes video and fantastic photos, and Canon's are especially great at low light (ie indoor). The video is not bad at all, but it is an add on to a still frame camera. The Sony Xacti takes photos, and fantastic video. For links to the Sony, see a couple of posts ago. I've had a Canon and loved it. My girlfriend has one and she loves it. I have several friends with Xactis and they love them, in fact, Amazon sent me an email this morning that mine is on the way.

So I would say, do you need FANTASTIC pictures and pretty good video? Pick the Canon. Or do you need FANTASTIC video and pretty good pictures? Pick the Sanyo

Awesome. Knew you'd know and know what you mean. Thanks, Jeremy.
